COMITE CENTRAL FEAT. FAKEMANNEQUIN - HORNY '08 (MOUSSE T COVER)
Released in 1998, the original version of “Horny '98” was written by Mousse T and sung by “Hot & Juicy” (who were incidentally stuck to the seats of an ugly car during the whole video). It was a happy dance hit. But how could anyone show an ecstatic face while talking about sexual frustration, loss and loneliness? Fond of primary meanings, Comité Central decided – ten years later – to fix the mistake and make the music match the lyrics.
A male voice full of pheromones and an original contemporary piano composition are the two main elements of this dancefloor-compliant electro track (with a languid 120 languid bpm).
COMITE CENTRAL
Comité Central has been doing music for a long time. But before getting acquainted with the delights of being a deejay, Comité Central erred in trip-hop surrogates. In 2004, he founded the “Mort aux Jeunes” parties in Paris with his collective (The_Bigger_Splashes). In 2005, these parties eventually landed in Comité Central’s beloved club (“Le Pulp”). In order to compete with guests such as Siskid, Hot Chip, Justice or The Micronauts, he got used to over-prepare his DJ sets: conceived as actual performances, they include original compositions, along with 80s girlie French easy-listening and state-of-the-art electro. A complex cocktail, worthy of Molotov.
In parallel, Comité Central has created Catherine Ferroyer-Blanchard, an iconoclast and soon-to-be cult character. Composer, writer, producer, manager, coach and dancer, Comité Central shadows her through 7 or 8 underground stages in Paris and 1 in Brussels, for her 100% lip-synch performances. Just like on TV. As for politics, Comité Central has long fought in favour of the cassette single comeback. To release Catherine Ferroyer-Blanchard’s first cassette single, he has co-created Mort aux Jeunes Records in 2007.
Now focusing on his personal projects, “Horny '08” is his first maxi. There will be vinyls and mp3s of “Horny ‘08”, but no cassette single. Momentarily putting aside his favourite voices – a vocoder and Catherine Ferroyer-Blanchard – Comité Central asked his mate fakemannequin – who also organises the Mort aux Jeunes, deejays, writes Catherine Ferroyer-Blanchard’s lyrics and takes care of Mort aux Jeunes Records – to speak for him.
THE REMIXES
The maxi includes 3 remixes of “Horny '08”:
_by Scratch Massive (Château Rouge / Kompakt), the French duet, adored by Comité Central for its previous Naked nights and its powerfully sexy discography. Scratch Massive is releasing a live DVD in April 2008.
_by Remote, the French duet whose first album is being released in April 2008 by Kill the DJ Records. Its title, “Dark Enough” tells it all.
_by Golden Bug, the French settled in Barcelona and signed by the prestigious German label Gomma (album to be released in 2008). Golden Bug has also founded the young and promising label “Silicon Square Garden” (with the maxi “Hell’s Belles” by Play Paul & Leicos).
DJ REACTIONS (RE: COMITE CENTRAL'S "HORNY '08")
The Micronauts:“Very good, very original, with an amazing atmosphere. Particularly due to this shameless piano sample. Oh, this is not a sample?”
Chloé:“Really good, this dark version is amazingly smart. At the end, the bit of Boulez – as if checking that people listen to the track until the end – is a very good idea. Oh, it’s not Boulez? It’s Comité Central?”
Clément Meyer (Get The Curse):“This is really dark! Brilliant, I’ll play it for sure.”
